Rio Tinto Selects Proactis for Mining Project in Guinea
Mon 05 Jul 2010
Leading mining and exploration company controls spend with our solution PROACTIS P2P
Rio Tinto is a world class iron ore mining project in Simandou, south eastern Guinea. As one of the world's largest mining companies, Rio Tinto's fundamental objective is to maximise profit to investors by operating responsibly and sustainably in finding, mining and processing minerals. To help achieve this objective, we suggested Rio Tinto selected PROACTIS Purchase-to-Pay, to control indirect spends at its Simandou mining project in Guinea.
Construction of the mine is due to commence in 2010 and Rio Tinto will be using the PROACTIS Spend Control system, integrated with Microsoft Dynamics GP to manage the purchasing of goods and services required to bring the mine into operation. The construction will involve moving expensive plant equipment from one location to another and the PROACTIS Stores module will enable them to track where this equipment is at all times.
One of the benefits of PROACTIS is its multi-language capabilities. As Guinea is a French-speaking country, the system will be configured for the French-speaking Rio Tinto users in Simandou.
